A Snip From Space

A Snip from Space is a pre-school animation aimed at children under the age of 5.

Bert, a dinosaur with an ‘Elvis’ haircut, arrives on Earth from space. He has a talent for hairdressing, and decides to set up a salon in his spaceship to cut the hair of a range of different animals.

The main concept was to base the score around the ‘muzak’ of the 1970s. This would help to bring out the comedy in the setting of a retro hairdressers, as well as provide a simple, melodic backdrop for children to enjoy. Lalo Shiffrin and Herb Alpert were my big inspiration behind this, and who doesn't secretly enjoy a bit of bossa nova elevator music!
